We can say a lot about strategies and tips to play better poker or poker online, but these are the principal advices to improve your game. We have to put them into practice if we want to become winning players:

1 – Patience

In the game of poker is said that patience is equal to money. By patience we mean that we have to wait for a favorable hand to put our money or our chips on the table. Many Canadian poker players are known because of this quality and the profit they get on their games.

2 – Be Aggressive

At the moment we have the cards we are waiting for, we should play them aggressively, because surely we have passed many rounds to get those good cards, so you have to get the most out of them.

3 – Our table image

If we get a reputation for solid player it will be much easier to pull a bluff in a situation where you really need it.

4 – Study the other players

We must not make the mistake of being careful only to our cards without dedicating time to observe other players. We should see which cards they play, if they are aggressive, if they get scared when someone bluffs.

5 – Studying our game

The simple act of reading this article means that you are on track. The strategies and tips contained on this page are the result of many hours of play and study. You have to read what you can and take note if necessary.

6 – Know when to quit

Players who are emotionally incapable of playing a good poker, many players call them “tilt.” Several things can cause us to go through a state “of tilt”, fatigue and frustration are the most common.

If you want to play poker to earn a living then it may be the best choice … or not, it actually can also prove to be the most horrible one. Poker can bring the best as well as the worst. Some people asked a question to know about what it is really good to play poker in order to earn a living. The members of a poker community replied in several opinions by describing both the pros and cons of doing so.

Among those opinions one really well summarizes the various aspects of becoming a pro giving a wider view of this profession.

“If you select poker as your profession you may get blessed throughout your career or may become miserable. But it all depends on how you look on it and what is your approach. It is not the same as it depicts and is shown in the movies normally.

As a poker player I have spent three years as a professional. In those three years, the most of the income that I had come was through playing poker. Sometimes I looked down upon what I was doing, but there were times when I loved it. Before that I played poker for a number of years as semi-professional. This means that I was actually working in some other occupations and used to play poker in order to add to my monthly income.

In the first years of my adult life there was not a real importance of poker for me and it was just a source of recreation. Therefore I would say that I have gone through poker and have observed it very clearly from each and every aspect. I have also seen many ups and downs through out my professional, novice and semi pro career. I am finally able to give you my experience which is summarized below.

Poker is a state of mind rather just a game. Your view about poker is just the reflection of what your view is about yourself and what you actually think about life. Poker is not like some other game that you may play for having some joy. It may not leave you helpless nor does it make you disappointed. When you are in the card room you are just thinking it like a big greenhouse where humans are evolving in front of your own eyes. Players get their feed, start to grow, bloom and reach the peak.”

After that as for any other sport the demise comes. Throughout their careers many players face countless financially, socially and many more problems. But on the other side many others find positive things like companions, entertainment and money of course. These are the 2 faces of the coin called poker.

If after reading that you want to try something more relaxing, why not trying bingo? When you play online bingo at a place like 888 bingo, one of the top rated bingo rooms on the Internet, you are presented with a choice. You can choose to play a game with a standard jackpot, or you can choose to play a game with a progressive jackpot. But, what are the differences, and which one puts more money in your pocket?

Well, there is no 100% correct answer to this, and the final decision is really a matter of personal preference. But, there are a few points that you should consider before making your decision.

First, standard jackpots usually have a little higher standard payouts. If you look at the paytables on a standard and progressive game, you will notice the standard game has a bit higher standard payouts. This is because when you play a progressive jackpot, a certain part of each bet you make is going into a shared jackpot, and you don’t really get credit for that bet if you don’t win the jackpot.

Next, the overall jackpots are almost always larger on a progressive jackpot machine. This is pretty self explanatory. Since there are more than one machine contributing to the jackpot, it is going to grow a lot faster and be a lot higher amount than a normal jackpot.

Lastly, it is important to take into account your overall strategy when choosing the style of jackpot to play. Are you playing break even bingo to clear a bingo bonus? Or are you playing to win it big? You have to take this into consideration.
Whatever the case, when you play at 888bingo, the choice is yours!

He has won several bracelets, and is one of the top money makers. He has an eventful, and yet a well known career in the spotlight.

Thuan “Scotty” Nguyen was born on October 28, 1962 in Vietnam. He came with his family to the United States of America when he was only fourteen years old. There he began to divulge himself into our culture, and into our games. He was ultimately suspended from school when he was spending more time with underground poker games then he was spending on school. At the age of twenty one Scotty Nguyen went to a dealer school, and was soon employed by Harrahs Poker room. This was when his peak for poker really took place. He made around one hundred and fifty dollars a night in tips and wages, and lost most of it playing three or four dollar stud games. He himself knew he wasn’t very good yet, but he couldn’t stop. In the future he realized that not quitting poker was a good thing.

His luck in poker changed in 1985. He was invited to a No Limit Texas Hold’Em Tournament up in Lake Tahoe. He spent all night playing with his bankroll, which wasn’t very big, and ended up making 7,000 dollars that night alone. He felt invincible and went to Las Vegas where he continued to gamble, and eventually brought his seven thousand dollars up to one million dollars. He continued to win big as he got himself into bigger and bigger tournaments until he got into games with poker professionals including Johnny Chan, David Grey, and Puggy Pearson. Unfortunately he gave into bad habits and ended up losing every dime he had, and was spared 5,000 dollars and a room.

Although he didn’t always stay down he ended up winning the 1997 World Series of Poker $2,000 Omaha 8 tournament which ended up in him winning over $150,000. He had his bank roll, but not for long. He ended up losing it again only to find himself in the 1998 World Series of Poker event. With the help of a friend who saw potential in him, Mike Matusow, he was able to join that even in which he won. He ended up winning his share, which was over $330,000.

Scotty Nguyen won his first World Poker Tour in January 2006 by beating his opponent Micheal Mizrachi in a heads up hand. He was one of the first people, five in fact, to have both won a World Series of Poker and a World Poker Tour title.

Although Scotty’s journey to winning both the World Poker Tour and the World Series of Poker was filled with both loss and gain it ended up with him winning in the end. Very much like a hand of poker. You have to bet, and go all in to have the chance of winning in the end. That is exactly what Thuan “Scotty” Nguyen did. He risked it all, and won big.

If you live on the wild side, and play Texas Hold’Em or even any poker game in general then you probably might have heard of the most eccentric player in the Texas Hold’Em game today, Phil Hellmuth.

Phil Hellmuth has had numerous sightings in the World Series of Poker tournaments. In 1989 he won first place in the Championship even. That might seem an older accomplishment, but it soon led to so many more. In 1992, 1993, and even in 2003 he has taken first place in Limit Hold’Em tournaments. He had a very exciting year in 1993 because he took first place in three different events in which he competed against numerous amounts of people. These events included the Limit Hold’Em tournament, and two wins in No Limit Hold’Em. In the first season of World Series of Poker at the Lucky Chances event Phil Hellmuth placed fourth in the event. This event is against thousands of other competitors so it really is quite an achievement.

Phil Hellmuth has turned out to be a really great poker player, but every player has its starts. Phil Hellmuth was born on July, 16, 1964 in Madison Wisconsin. Phil Hellmuth has the poker nickname of ‘Poker Brat’. He achieved that nickname during his play. In the end I believe that even though he is known as the ‘Poker Brat’ that he uses what he says and what he does to throw off his opponent’s and even possibly get them on tilt, which is a very good strategy since players are more reckless and likely to lose when they are playing on tilt.

Phil Hellmuth has overall won eleven different bracelets so far in his poker career. As stated above in 1989 Phil Hellmuth took first place in the World Series of Poker Championship Tournament. In 1992 he has won a bracelet in the $5,000 Limit Hold’Em tournament. In 1993 he has had several bracelets they are as follows, $1,500 No Limit Hold’Em, $2,500 No Limit Hold’Em, and $5,000 Limit Hold’Em. In 1997 he won a bracelet for a $3,000 Pot Limit Hold’Em tournament. In 2001 he won a $2,000 No Limit Hold’Em tournament, and in 2003 he won the bracelet for winning the $2,500 Limit Hold’Em. Also in 2003 he won the bracelet for $3,000 No Limit Hold’Em.

Phil Hellmuth also has a career in poker outside of the poker table. He has made several videos for instructing people on how to play poker, and there tips and strategies. A couple of these videos include, ‘Ultimate White to Black Belt Course’ and ‘Phil Hellmuth’s Million Dollar Poker System’. Along with these videos he has written several well written articles for a magazine known as Card-player. He has also has authored several book titles.

Phil Hellmuth has an amazing career both on the poker table, and off the poker table. He is a great poker player although he has a brat side to him he works and molds it in the right way as to throw his opponent’s off their game. Phil Hellmuth is an amazing player, and one that doesn’t get a lot of credit for the good he does. Let the brat live on.

If you happen to watch poker at all, whether it’s the little tournaments or even the World Series of Poker then you most likely have heard of Phil Ivey. He is currently the number one money maker in poker. He is an excellent poker player who deserves everything that has come to him.

Phil Ivey was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. Being born in that city brought him to the point in his career that he is now. Phil Ivey being one of the best poker players in the world was given the nickname, ‘The Tiger Woods of Poker’, and he also has another nickname, ‘No Home Jerome’. The first one is his more prominent nickname since it describes him at his best.

Although Phil Ivey is the top money maker in poker he uses his money for good reasons. Phil Ivey is a supporter of charities, and is known to donate to a number of charitable causes. In March of 2008 Phil Ivey donated $50,000 to a charity in Las Vegas known as the Empowered 2 Excel. After this donation the charity changed its name to the Budding Ivey Foundation.

All in all Phil Ivey has only won seven bracelets so far, but that doesn’t stop him from being at the top. He might not have as much bracelets, but he is the top money maker which should mean something. He tied for a record with Phil Hellmuth for winning three bracelets at the 2002 Worlds Series of Poker. He tied for the record, which was the most tournaments won in a year, with Phil Hellmuth among others. In 2000 he won a bracelet for winning a $2,500 Pot Limit Omaha Tournament. In 2005 Phil Ivey won a bracelet for a $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha tournament. In 2009 he had two bracelet wins. He won a bracelet for the $2,500 No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball, and for the $2,500 Omaha Hi Lo 7 Card Stud Hi Lo. He has won several bracelets in a short amount of time which makes him one of the best.

Phil Ivey has also made a great impression during the World Series of Poker series. He has scared many players, and has actually made the statement that they were not as good as he was at poker. He has taken there chips, and hasn’t looked back. Phil Ivey has also reached a record of eight final tables at the World Series of Poker which is a feat in and of itself. Phil Ivey has made it to the television final table and has cashed in eight out of the nine times he entered the World Series of Poker. Phil Ivey has made over three million dollars on clashes in the World Series of Poker. So, he is in fact the money maker.

Phil Ivey made his poker debut during the European Poker Tour when he began to make his first impression, but that wasn’t the first time that he had played poker ever. He has also played poker with his buddies from work which is where he ended up getting his first poker nickname.

Either way that you think about it Phil Ivey is one of the best out there today. He has raked over millions of dollars to which he gave some to charities. If you ever have the chance to watch him in action I can guarantee that you walk home a happier man.

Most of us who have watched the World Series of Poker, or any other poker series online have heard of Joe Hachem, or Diamond Joe. He is a professional poker player who is advanced in his game play. He may not have won that many bracelets along the way, but for sure his results outside tournaments are outstanding.

Joe Hachem was born on March 11, 1966. He is a Lebanese-Australian poker player who was born in Lebanon. At the age of six Joe and his family moved to Australia. Joe worked as a chiropractor for thirteen years until he found out that he has a rare blood disorder that affected his hands which didn’t allow him to continue his work as a chiropractor. Joe Hachem took some time off of work to consider his options on what to do next in his life. While Joe Hachem was trying to decide what he wanted to do with his future he was beginning to play poker more and more. He played both in the casinos, and online as well. While playing poker Joe Hachem had a tendency to get angry which he knew he had to overcome or he was never going to get far in playing poker. He started his looking for what he wanted to do in 1995, and in 2000 after years of playing casual poker in casinos or online he started playing in regular tournaments at the Crown Casino in Melbourne. When Joe played in these tournaments he usually ended up winning the money, or finishing in the money. He played a few more years at these small tournaments before he set his eyes on the prize. The World Series of Poker in the gambling capital Las Vegas, Nevada.

When Joe Hachem entered the World Series of Poker tournament he wasn’t a fairly well known professional poker player yet. Two weeks before Joe Hachem had been signed up to buy in for the tournament he went to look for another tournament to play in, a smaller one and one that didn’t hold much prestige. He ended up finishing in tenth place in the $1,000 No Limit Hold’Em tournament. He ended up winning that tournament, and walking away with an extra $25,850. One of the players that were in this tournament made a comment about Joe Hachem saying that he is the new Australian champion for the World Series of Poker. Little did they know that what they said actually became the truth? Joe Hachem beat out 5,618 other poker places to win the 2005 World Series of Poker event. Joe Hachem took first place, won a bracelet, won seven million five hundred thousand, and got his name in the books.

Joe Hachem has placed in plenty of poker tournaments to be considered one of the professional poker players. He has a hard strategy, hence his nickname Diamond Joe, that is hard to break. He knows his own strategy, and he tries to figure out others as well. He may not be as famous as some of the other professional poker players, but he is enjoyable to watch and one day he will be at one of the top spots in the best poker players in the world.

Mike Matusow is a professional poker player who does everything he can to win the game, Hence why he has given the nickname of ‘The Mouth’. He is an excellent poker player who has seen the potential in up and coming poker players and has given a hand when he thought they needed one.

Mike Matusow was given the nickname of ‘The Mouth’ due to the fact that he has a reputation for trash talking other players and their hands at the poker table. This generally isn’t considered good table manners, but he does it anyways. On occasion it has sent more than one of his competitors to go on tilt, or just plain act really bad. He also has a way of ruining an hour’s worth of play, or even days, due to a bad judgment call. Mike Matusow also has the nicknames
Of ‘Mike Matusow Blow Up’, and ‘Mike Matusow Meltdown’. These can become obvious if you sit and watch him play.

Mike Matusow was born on April 30, 1968 in Los Angeles, California He had his first experience with poker when he was eighteen years old at the Maxim Casino playing a simple game of video poker. From then on he became addicted, and regularly went back to play those same slot machines. He played so much that he even caused himself to get an injury, repetitive strain injury. Sometimes he occasionally stole money from his mother’s purse so that he can go play the slots if he did not have enough money to play that day. He eventually got to the point in which he attended Gamblers Anonymous meetings. In 1989 he was taught Texas Hold ‘Em by Steve Samaroff. Once he knew how to play Texas Hold’Em he got seriously into gambling which was in the early 1990′s. During that time he was working as a poker dealer which kept him in the casinos for most of his time.

Some of the successes that Mike Matusow has achieved over the year including being a three time bracelet winner in the World Series of Poker events, and he became the winner of the 2005 ‘World Series of Poker Champions Tournament’. Some of his other accomplishments during his career as a professional poker player include a total of four overall bracelets earned. Mike Matusow has finished and placed in numerous tournaments including the 2005 World Series of Poker event, and in 2001 he took sixth place in a No Limit Hold’Em Main event in the World Series of Poker. In 2005 in a World Series of Poker event in which Mike Matusow placed ninth place he won one million dollars in prize money.

Although he might not be the most liked person in the World Series of Poker or even in any poker game all together he has a descent way of playing the game. Plus he plays it well. He might be called ‘The Mouth’ for a reason, but that reason is deliberate to psych his opponent’s out. His strategy overall does work according to all his wins, and the money that he has received for winning those. So next time you play Texas Hold’Em remembers to psych them out.

There have been so many pro poker players through the years that it might be hard to differentiate between one and the other. There are also some very recognizable names in this business, and one of them includes Chris ‘Jesus’ Ferguson.

Chris ‘Jesus’ Ferguson was born on April 11, 1963 in Los Angeles. Chris Ferguson was born into a gambling and mathematical family. Chris ‘Jesus’ Ferguson’s parents achieved a doctoral degree in mathematical studies. Ferguson’s father also holds a job at UCLA teaching game theory, and theoretical probability. Growing up in a family like this it is no wonder that Chris ‘Jesus’ Ferguson started playing poker at the mere age of ten.

During his college years Chris ‘Jesus’ Ferguson decided to follow in his father’s step, and also go to UCLA even though it wasn’t for the exact same subject. Chris went on to earn a Ph.D. in computer science; he put his focus on virtual network algorithms. In five years it took Chris Ferguson to be an undergraduate, and it only took him thirteen years to graduate.

There have been many claims over the years about Chris ‘Jesus’ Ferguson that have been going around. One of these claims he made include the fact that he a turned one little dollar into around twenty thousand dollars. That is a really big profit.

Those may or may not be true, but there are plenty of others that we know for a fact are true. One of these facts is that as of 2009 his winning from live tournaments rounds out to about $7,800,000. Some more of the amazing things that Chris has done, other than being an excellent player, include winning five World Series of poker bracelets, and finished in fifty nine of the world series of poker tournaments.

The five bracelets that Chris ‘Jesus’ Ferguson has won include the bracelets for $2,500 seven cards in the year 2000, $10,000 No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em World Championship in 2000. In 2001 he won the bracelet for the $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo Split Eight or better tournament. In the year 2003 he has accomplished winning two different bracelets, one was for the tournament $2,000 Omaha Hi-Lo Split Eight or Better, and the second one includes $2,000 1/2 Limit Hold’em 1/2 Seven Card Stud. During his career as a pro poker player he has achieved a lot of accomplishments.

Before Chris ‘Jesus’ Ferguson was made famous for his World Series of Poker wins, or even his doing well in those tournaments he has accomplished fame and wealth in online poker tables. His style for playing poker tends to be a quiet one. He sits and watches his opponent’s every move. Due to his parents education and his own his style also tends to a lot of math involved in it, very strategic. He seems to have an un-movable pose so he doesn’t give any tells away, and quite frankly this helps to scare the other players a bit. Although he does have his traditional wide brimmed sunglasses, which some say are his trademark he also have his looks. He gets his nickname Jesus because in a way he does resemble Jesus.

Chris ‘Jesus’ Ferguson seems to be a player who you never forget. His style of playing poker seems to be exact, but very enjoyable to watch. He has made some accomplishments in his poker career so far, but I believe that in the very near future we will be seeing a lot more of Jesus himself.

There are so many poker players out in the world today that are highly recognizable, and other are not. One of the more recognizable poker players is Daniel Negreanu.

Daniel Negranu was born on July 26, 1974 born in Toronto, Canada. He was born to Annie and Constantin Negreanu. Daniel started out when he was young, and began at the age of sixteen going to pool halls, hustling, sports betting, and eventually playing cards. Daniel dropped out of high school to play what is known as a rounder at local charity casino events. He was always looking for illegal card games around the city. After building up his bankroll he left Las Vegas at the age of twenty two to become a professional poker player.

In the year 1997 Daniel Negreanu won two events at the World Poker Finals at Foxwoods. He ended up earning over fifty five thousand dollars. He was also named the tournament’s best all around player. Daniel Negreanu also followed that win by winning over $160,000 dollars in two tournaments in 1998. He also became the youngest World Series of Poker bracelet winner in history. Which is quite an achievement due to all the other phenomenal players in the world? Daniel Negreanu was named the World Series of Poker player in the year of 2004. He was also named the World Poker Tour player of 2005.

Daniel Negreanu himself, after being given so many awards for player of the year, ended up winning four bracelets as of July 2009. Daniel Negreanu was awarded the position of Poker Ambassador for the opening of the Wynn Las Vegas opening. They wanted him to play for any stakes on any of their tables. Daniels arrangement with this casino lasted until the year of 2005 in October. That only ended because Daniel was being stopped by the Wynn from playing in different casinos and Daniel Negranu didn’t agree with that so the contract ended. Two months later Daniel Negreanu opened up his own online card room, called skin, on his official site. He played in this card room underneath the username, ‘Kid Poker’.

In 2007 Daniel Negreanu signed with the now popular poker site, Poker Stars. He joined the elites which included Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer, and Joe Hachem, and numerous other professional poker players that the site has also recruited.

Daniel Negreanu has also made a name outside of the poker table. He has been seen on numerous television such as ‘Late Night Poker’, a show called ‘High Stakes Poker’, and ‘Poker After Dark’ where he has made an impression on the young professional poker players to be. In one show he stood as a commentator and stand-in host on the television show called ‘Ultimate Poker Challenge’.

Daniel Negreanu is a profession poker player, an excellent one at that if you have watched him play, with a bankroll of over one hundred thousand dollars. That is a dream to many poker players, but as they say never gives up on what you love. Daniel Negreanu sure loved poker. He started early, and is still following his passion while making quite the living.

J.C Tran, Justin Cuong Van Tran, is known for his nickname ‘just call’. He has a way of calling just about anything to see a little bit of action.

J.C Tran was born on January 20, 1977 in Vietnam. Although he was born in Vietnam he didn’t stay in Vietnam. He is a Vietnam-American poker player who has situated himself in the lovely Sacramento, California. Tran has had several career milestones that he has passed including being a two time bracelet World Series of Poker winner, and even the winner of the World Championship of Online Poker. He has made the World Poker Tour final tables a total of five times all together. He has won a World Poker Tour title, and was named the World Poker Tour player of the year in their fifth season of being on the air. Another achievement that he has made is winning the World Poker Challenge.

J.C. Tran was not born a poker genius. His surroundings and his parents have helped with that. He was born in Vietnam as the youngest of eight children. When he was two J.C Tran and his family moved to America where he got his schooling. He eventually received a degree in Business management from the California State University in Sacramento.

J.C. Tran has finished high in the money in several tournaments that he participated in. That peaked his interest when he realized he can win some pretty big money doing something that comes naturally to him. He finished fifth in the World Poker Finals in 2004. He also placed in the L.A. Poker Classic, which he also placed fifth, the 2005 Borgata Poker Open, and the 2004 L.A. Poker Classic. Those four events that he placed were featured on the World Poker Tour television series which helped get his name out there.

He has also made the final tables in three World Series of Poker. He has finished 117 both of those years. But although he might not have made too much in those events he ended up placing second in the ‘World Series of Poker circuit event’ in which he won over $250,000. On October 2, 2006 in the Poker Stars tournament he had won the main event which earned him $670,000. So far, those two wins alone replaced any loss that he has taken so far, but it’s not over yet. J.C Tran has won numerous events in 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2007. In 2007 he was named the World Poker Tours Player of The Year. This was a big deal for him due to the fact that he has lost before.

One of the most memorable moments for J.C Tran was the first bracelet he had won. He achieved this accomplishment on June 30, 2008 at the 2008 World Series of Poker event. J.C Tran ended up taking home $631,170 in winnings that night alone. As of 2009 J.C Tran’s total live tournament winnings equal up to roughly seven million eight hundred thousand.

So from rags to riches J.C Tran has earned everything that has come his way. He might not have had the greatest start, but so far he has been ending great. He never gave up on slowly becoming the best, and he never will.
